The video compilation that marks the end of the television year, the Dan News Christmas blooper reel, has hit the internet on Tuesday morning.Made up of news bloopers from here at Newshub and news broadcasts from around the world, the annual project has previously been a massive viral hit with millions of views. It’s featured on websites such as the BBC, The Daily Mail and Perez Hilton. It’s the passion project of news geek Dan News, or Dan Lake as he’s known by day. He’s a Newshub freelancer as well as running his own dannews.co.nz website on the side.
Lake chose to partner with Newshub this year to launch his compilation, in return for access to the magical blooper archives at TV3.Lake says he’s been collecting news bloopers and New Zealand-television related content for as long as he can remember. He launched his website in 2005 as a way of expressing his passion for the industry. “I never expected anyone to know about what I was doing. It was just for me, just for fun,” he said.”Over time I’ve spent a lot of time on it, I’ve never made a cent, it’s about providing a laugh for the audience.”
An extended version of the video will launch later in the Super Rugby Live day on Dan News’ website, but the best bits are here on Newshub.Cape Town – The Sharks have launched their new home and away Super Rugby jerseys for the 2017 season. The Sharks will wear the black version for home matches at Kings Park and the white jersey on their travels. In addition, the Sharks also revealed a blue superhero-themed jersey to be worn in aid of charity, which will benefit the larger Durban community. The design of the jerseys embodies the heritage and traditions of the Sharks and embraces the culture of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Sharks will open their 2017 Super Rugby campaign – in their white away jersey – when they take on the Reds in Brisbane on Friday, February 24.Cape Town – The Lions have launched their new home and away Super Rugby jerseys for the 2017 season. The kit, made by Canterbury, features a traditional white and red home version and an all red version for away matches. The Lions, who were beaten finalists in 2016, start their Super Rugby campaign away to the Cheetahs on February 25. PERTH-based Super Rugby franchise the Western Force have announced that Ben McCalman and Heath Tessmann will be the new captains of the club in 2017.
In addition, club legend and former captain Matt Hodgson will play an important mentoring role – allowing the club to lean on his considerable experience to grow their next generation of leaders.McCalman will take the role of the on-field captain, while Tessmann will be the off-field captain responsible for standards and team culture. The trio have amassed 285 Super Rugby caps between them.Western Force Head Coach Dave ‘Blood’ Wessels says that this is a positive announcement for the club and has full faith in both McCalman and Tessmann.”It’s pretty typical of Hodgo’s (Matt Hodgson’s) selfless nature that he wants to play a leading role in developing the next generation of Force captains while he’s still playing – something he perhaps never had the benefit of when he took over.

“He will still play a central role in the leadership of our team, but in ‘Dog’ (McCalman) and ‘Tess’ (Tessmann) we have two players that our whole organisation believes in. They represent the ‘playing to win’ attitude we want to embody.”The move towards a co-captaincy model follows in the footsteps of Super Rugby rivals the Brumbies who successfully used a similar model – with Stephen Moore and Christian Leali’ifano sharing the captaincy last season.Meanwhile, Sunwolves Super Rugby head coach Filo Tiatia has announced his squad that will contest the 2017 Super Rugby season representing Japanese and Asian rugby.
Of the new signings for the 2017 Super Rugby season is the inclusion of South African back-row Willie Britz but the biggest surprise is former Highlanders half back Fumiaki Tanaka. A notable surprise in the Sunwolves Super Rugby squad announcement is the omission of Akihito Yamada who was the team’s star winger in the 2016 season.Sunwolves 2017 squadForwards: Keita Super Rugby Live Stream Inagaki, Masataka Mikami, Koki Yamamoto, Takeshi Kizu, Takeshi Hino, Shota Horie, Takuma Asahara, Heiichiro Ito, Koo Jiwon, Hitoshi Ono, Kyosuke Kajikawa, Shinya Makabe, Liaki Moli, Willem Britz, Edward Quirk, Uwe Helu, Yoshitaka Tokunaga, Shuhei Matsuhashi, Malgene Ilaua, Yuhimaru Mimura

Melbourne will be sticking around after the tournament for a Valentine’s Day trial match against the Reds at Ballymore, nine days out from the first 2017 fixture, between the Rebels and Blues on February 23.All 10 Australian and New Zealand Super Rugby franchises will be lining up at the Tens, though it’s unclear exactly which players will feature, along with international sides Toulon, Panasonic, Samoa, the Chiefs and the Blues. It would seem the theme for next year’s local Super Rugby jerseys is simplicity. The Lions – like the Sharks earlier this week – on Thursday night launched their new kit for the 2017 campaign and it’s definitely not as bold as this season’s colours.
Gone is the interesting black and yellow Joburg cityscape and in comes a more measured white outfit. The new jersey is a return to the classic lines and colours that is associated with the Lions Brand, but with Super Rugby 2017 Live new exciting technical innovations – it’s ideal midway where tradition meets design,” said Edgar Rathbone, chief financial officer of Lions Rugby Union.“We feel that the simple design and clear lines really make their (the sponsors) logo’s stand out which will see them receive fantastic value in 2017.”The new jerseys are available in stores from Friday.
